Orthotic style choices are often related a patient’s lifestyle and choice of shoe gear. A custom foot orthosis should contain the following properties to specifically address the pathomechanical features of a foot condition.

 

 
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Semi-rigid, moderate arch contact, 12mm heel cup, 4° extrinsic rearfoot post, forefoot balanced and posted to cast, met length vinyl topcover, 4mm bilateral heel lifts
     
  • Flexible Flat Foot
  • Semi-rigid, moderate arch contact, 12mm heel cup, 4°/4° extrinsic rearfoot post, forefoot balanced and posted to cast, 1st ray cut out, met length vinyl topcover
     
  • Pes Planus

  • Hallux Limitus

  • Lateral Ankle Instability/Peroneal Tendonitis

  • Posterior Tibial Dysfunction

  • Diabetes/Amputations
  • Flexible, moderate to minimal arch contact, 15mm heel cup, neutral heel post (0°), forefoot balanced and posted to cast, full length Tenderfoam topcover, toe filler, Cole Shank® for TMA and Hallux filler, pocket accommodations for leisions/ulcers.


    NOTE: A weight-bearing tracing of the amputated foot, and a tracing of the shoe liner, insures a precise fit.
